Hey guys,
I saw there is a similar topic about keeping gliders quiet but as a potential new owner I was wondering about the volume of the noise? I'm not to worried myself as i'm a deep sleeper and can sleep through pretty much anything but I live in a house share, I plan to keep their cage in my room so are they likely to keep up all my housemates?
thanks for your help

I live in an apartment building and haven't had any complaints yet.  The suggies and I have been here for 3 1/2 years.  The gliders live in the bedroom and I live in the living room and if they get too rambunctious and noisy, I can close the bedroom door and barely hear them, so I assume that's what my neighbors hear, too, if anything.

I used to live with my parents, my bedroom was next to their and my suggie's cage was against the adjoining wall.  They could hear them playing in the wheel and barking.

Barking can be very loud (and persistent)... I can hear my gliders barking from downstairs (they are in the box room upstairs) and they wake me up barking quite often (their cage is on the far wall from my bedroom).

mine are on the landing on the next floor up from my bedroom. I sleep with my tv on low volume (don't ask lol) but they wake me up when they bark. I can hear it ova tv. Mine don't bark every night, only seem to do it on a work night when I'm knackered (ickle buggers) and it only lasts a few mins but takes me a while to get back to sleep!

Lol!  I keep my TV on low, too and sometimes a box fan in the glider room when it's too hot - that helps with the noise.  I'm lucky, I don't wake up to barking, but if they're doing it when I'm trying to go to sleep, it can get annoying.

It's only the barking really, it's not that bad and mine don't do it often - either when they want attention or when they've been spooked (usuaully when the other half walks past the doorway) then daddy (that's me hehe) has to go and reassure and protect them lol

All the worry i had about noise has gone now n were all happy, dont bother even thinking of having them in your bedroom lol. Am so glad i got them even if they have drained me of every penny lol cost me 700 pound in all but well worth it make sure you can afford everything even antiseptic cream just in case an a snuggle heatpad off marie which i ll be sharing with them better than a hot water bottle. dont worry to much i did an there wasnt no need as long as their not in your room should be fine. hope this helps keep me posted

John!  Hasn't anyone told you, if they bark for attention ignore them!  They're little sods and learn very quickly that if they bark they get treats.

The snuggle safe pads are great!  I use them in winter on my feet!  Cheesy

Our 3 have only ever barked for a couple of hours once, and that was when it was that full moon thing that only happens every 30 years or so that happened last year. I remember a few other people saying the same thing about their gliders at the time. Every now and again they have a little occaisional crab, usually if the dogs staring them out, but on the whole they are pretty quiet

Mine are often noisy around an ordinary full moon, it's usually the night before and they bark all night!

Mine tend to bark the night before AND the actual night - making a song and dance out of it all hehe

Ultimately its your call!
But... most cages are metal, so you will hear the chink and clatter as they run up and down bars at fall speed
thuds as they jump around cage
and rattles as the wheel moves or worse gets stuck against the side of the cage (which is when my housemate will wake me up to go sort them out!)

the noise is manageable... if you are a way away ie several rooms....
I would personally never share a room with them as I wouldnt sleep!
and they are inquisitive so would want to know what you were doing and I suspect bug you to check!
however I havent shared a room with them... so maybe ask to see who has
quiet no!
noisey also not to bad... most of the time! but you may get some sleep deprivation as marie says!
