Hey guys, I saw there is a similar topic about keeping gliders quiet but as a potential new owner I was wondering about the volume of the noise? I'm not to worried myself as i'm a deep sleeper and can sleep through pretty much anything but I live in a house share, I plan to keep their cage in my room so are they likely to keep up all my housemates? thanks for your help
Hi Katie, Sugar Gliders are nocturnal animals by nature, and thus, most of the noise they make will be in the late evening or early morning. They have a wide range of vocalizations, ranging from crabbing, to barking and chittering. The sound you are most likely to hear during the night is their barking, which is thought to be a call to locate members of their colony - it could also mean your Glider is looking for attention (if kept by him or herself). I am a light sleeping, and that being said, their barking has never woken me up. Some Gliders bark frequently, and some you may not hear at all - it all depends on the individual Glider. I have eight Gliders and our bedroom door is shut at night, the sound is barely audible from the outside of the room...I wouldn't worry about it. As others have mentioned above, it is most likely they will bark during a full moon. You just have to get to know your individual Glider and their personality.

Hi, i find if i don't have the exercise wheel cable tied to the bars it rattles quite loudly, enough for me to have to come downstairs at 3am and adjust it, i am sure the noise would have went through the wall to my neighbors too

Mine dont bark very often, and only once loud enough to wake me up and get me out of bed as one of them escaped from their cage (husband didnt shut the door properly) and she was so excited to have got out she was barking very loudly but my boy was either to lazy or scared to come out as he had stayed in the cage. They'd been out that night anyway for their usual playtime so maybe thats why he didnt try to escape too

Hi i am thinking of getting to sugar gliders and was wondering about the noise more than anything. Original plan was to have them in my room but after reading through the posts not too sure about that idea now . Is there any other places in the house that other people seem to have them that works out well ?......Thanks

Mine currently have their own room, but they will be moving into the living room relatively soon.

Mine are in the living room too, though I lived with gliders in my room for months at my old house, other than a few barking sessions and the noise of them in their wheel it wasn't a problem

Mine live in the living room also, but they live in my room when I visit my parents. They didn't wake me up with their noises, but I heard them running in their wheel.
