I am a new member and cannot get onto all of the subjects yet. I am really worried about Tilly my remaining Female Glider, she is approx 2 1/2 years (probably nearer to 3 years). Zac her partner died at the weekend on Saturday, I am heartbroken, looking at all of the info i have since read (it happened really quickly there was no warning) it looks like a sugar drop? he was running around and fussing and as normal up until around 5am in the morning, we could here them both running around their cage and 'yapping' and making the usual noises. at 6am one of my daughters came into my bedroom crying, she had found Zac clung to the outside of their bed pouch and he was freezing cold and even a little stiff, he was making weird noises, we were devastated, i read all the info i could, and kept him warm and tried water, honey etc... he seemed to pick up for a short while and then he just went floppy and eventually died in my daughters hand whilst i had to go out on another emergency with another one of my kids. I came back and have not stopped crying ever since every time i think of him but my main priority is 'Tilly', she was the most feisty of the two, and the one that nipped and could be quite grumpy with zac and would often 'crab' at been disturbed, even if there was just a noise that disturbed her but in the last couple of days she has gone really docile..... i am spending as much time with her as i can, i am carrying her around in a bonding pouch and at this very moment im rubbing her tummy whilst she's on her back and i cant believe she is actually letting me do it, i would normally been nipped a few times by now!!! Maybe it is the extra attention she is getting but i dont know. Im really desperate to find her a mate if it is because she is already becomeing lonesome and depressed, i cannot always spend so much time with her and im not a substitute glider.... She is eating and has plenty of meat on her, she does not appear ill. How do i find someone reputable to buy a mate? Dont mind travelling as i drive. Also i have heard that live transportation for pets is alot better than it was years ago so i may not be limited to buying from where i can travel to. Really need help but have not had any responses yet and cannot get onto the section i need because i am a new member. Hoping you can help us
Jayne & Tilly xx

First of all I am sorry for the loss of your glider, and you are right he other is missing her mate, they bond very strongly as you are aware and losing a cage mate is very difficult on a glider especially if she is now on her own.
where are you located? this might help narrow the field a little, on another note I use a very good animal courier that has carried shed loads of fluffy exotics, gliders included so if you need a courier pop me a PM and I will forward his website addy.

oh thank you so much, i was worried about carriers but now that narrows the field enourmously if i know the animals are taken care of. I am in Hull, East Yorkshire, (near the Humber Bridge) (formerly Humberside) .... North East... and seaside towns Bridlington, Scarborough, Filey.... Also south of the humber is grimsby, immingham, mablethorpe if that helps... Do you also know what age i can mix with her?? she is approx 2 1/2 to 3 years old. oh this has lifted my heart so much i feel so much for her i would do anything Jayne xx

Hi hun, I think it's not so much the age that is an issue but the size. Try and weigh Tilly if she'll let you and then when looking for gliders, make sure if they're babies they are at least 2/3s her body weight, otherwise they are vulnerable if they have a fight. As long as Tilly is a normal weight you shouldn't have any issues introducing her to an adult glider of any age xxx

Good news, i am going to Manchester this Sunday to meet someone who is selling a little family of suggars which consists of 2 males and 1 female. Both of the males are neutered which is what i wanted - one is 3-4 years old and the other is 18 months old. The female is 12months old so they are all adult and will mix with Tilly. I was pleased that they just would not just sell and carrier them out to me I am going to meet them, and see them all . I just hope my flu has gone so that i can go this weekend as i feel really poorly right now . ooooh i hope all goes well and i can bring home friends for Tilly, she is not herself im worried about her the poor little thing . Jayne xx

YAAAAY! Glad to hear the good news honey sounds good, though I would ask the breeder A LOT of questions, as I think I've seen them advertise before and they have a breeding trio, with two un-neutered boys, which seems to go against everything I've read on here about breeding. Good luck with them

Thats great news, remember slow introductions and when it comes to them all going into the same cage it needs to be neutral or use the single gliders cage or give a cage a damn good clean
