hiya all
not sure if u remember me, I made a post on 11th august regarding my suggie Mr T, and how I had hand reared him as his mam and dad attacked him and rejected him. Well he's doing just fab now, but I now need some advice on another problem.....
Well, I got Mr T from my friend as she didnt have time to bring him up. Now Ive also got his Mam and Dad, and a 1day oop joey which I found lying cold and still on the floor of the cage this morning. The joey isnt an issue, Ive done this before lol, Ive got him in a little tank with fleece and his heat mat and am feeding him via syringe. I brought Mr T up exactly the same way and he's blooming. The issue is with Mam and Dad.
At the minute they are in their cage in my conservatory but Im moving house to a smaller one soon and I just dont have room for them. I took them off my friend as she moved into a house where absolutely no animals are allowed, I said I would look after them til we found a suitable home. I want to sell them, they are a breeding pair, but they dont have a very good history of looking after their young, so I dont just want to stick them up for sale on gumtree or whatever, cos any old person might buy them, I need them to go to someone who knows what they are doing, or wants to get the male neutered. So Im looking for some advice off u all...please lol

Well, you can't sell them as a breeding pair if they won't care for their joeys. The most responsible thing for your friend to do is have the male neutered and then find them a home, but many gliders are taking a long time to find the right home at the moment.

I agree with Jen, it's not fair to sell a 'breeding pair' to someone when they won't rear them. The best thing you can do is get dad neutered asap to avoid any more joeys.
Also, you have Mr T on his own, can you not get him neutered too and keep all 3 together in one cage? Suggies should not be kept on their own.

She's also got this new joey... It'd be lovely to be able to make a decent sized family unit after neutering any boys. Hopefully this new little one makes it.

Although... Was just thinking. When did you move the parents? That could be why they threw this joey. The stress of moving could cause it.

the pair are 2 n a half years old. Before my friend got them they had rejected a baby. Then my friend had them 6months and they rejected Mr T. Then they fell pregnant again and yesterday we found 2 half eaten legs and a live joey on the floor of the cage. So last night I took them all. Dont think it has anything to do with moving them. But Im curious to know why they reject babies

Well, regardless if the new one survives or not, Mr T DOES need a cagemate. How big is the cage he's in now?

hmm, its about 2ft tall at the min, looking for a taller one. Hes only a baby himself and Im hoping this one survives so I can introduce him. Im terrified to put Mr T in with the pair as they rejected him in the first place

Well, that cage isn't big enough for even one glider. Neutering all the boys would be the first step in introducing them and Mr T would need to be at least 2/3 the size of the largest parent. Gliders shouldn't ever be subjected to a solitary life and their human(s) isn't enough company for them. We can't give them everything other gliders can.

i know his cage isnt big enough, im on the lookout for one. And theres no way I can fit a cage big enough for 4 gliders in my house, which is why Im after advice on where and how to sell the pair of gliders, im aware they arent good parents, which is why i had wrote that i didnt just want to stick em up for sale under false pretences that they are a good breeding pair, cos they clearly arent

You need to get dad neutered, they've rejected 3 times that you know of. Be careful if the gliders are in the conservatory, it could get extremely hot in there at the mo, the highest temp in the UK was 28 today.
Maybe if you cannot care for them and their previous owners cannot care for them you should think about rehoming as rescues?

will check temp thanks, im lucky (or unlucky lol) that my conservatory is always pretty cold, Im going to pass these back to my friend I think, I just dont have the space, she can rehome them, Im gonna invest in a taller cage though and try and find a cagemate for Mr T incase this one doesnt survive. Im unsure what sex it is, its got a little sticky out thing next to its tail and then what looks like a mini slit further up. God Im useless at this.

sounds like a baby girl to me. If your conservatory is "pretty cold", thats also no good for keeping gliders, espeically our cold nights we have.
