Hi everyone. I am rely excited to be joining you all. I am getting my gliders next week and am enjoying reading about them. Although new to these lite guys I have numerous other let's from rat, lizards, beardies, cats, dogs etc!!

Any tips greatly received. Struggling a bit on the food side tho- ratios etc. Blended or just soft mush (would've thought mush as can eat locusts etc! What kind of veg? Cooked?  Sorry for questions - just want to get it right.

Thanks

Jackie

Welcome! All veggies need to be fed raw, ya lose nutrients thru cooking. Also through freezing too so try not to make more than a weeks worth at a time. I think most of us do freeze, just dont go mad lol.

I blend my food to liquid. They can eat hard mush (they eat cat biscuits quite happily) but they choose not to. I find a lot gets left if I leave lumps in it.... Not all are the same tho, try yours with mush if ya like, you'll soon find out what they think of it Smiley

Good luck! Bet your excited!x

As for ratio's, try some of the recipies posted on the diet section. They're already worked out with the correct calcium:phosphorus ratio and you'll get to learn what your two like and don't like.

Nowt worse than spending ages thinkin up recipe's to have your suggies turn their nose up cos you bunged something in they don't like! Frustrating! I had problems with veg for a LONG time. I tried the 'you eat this or you don't eat at all' approach and mine went 2nights without touching the food. So on the third night I gave in....

Maybe try little pieces of fruits as treats. Any fruit apart from grape I think is fine. I give banana as treats. My two LOVE banana but it has such a crap ratio that I can't put it in their main diet.

So good luck figuring it all out x

Hello, and welcome. Read through the diets threads and hopefully it'ss become a little clearer. As Helen says, Tillie's recipes are a godsend and Marie's guide says which supplements can be given on what days etc  Wink

Hi, welcome to SGF. The reason we mush is to ensure they cannot pick and choose their favourites. It's to ensure they get the full range of nutrients Smiley.
