Hi
When looking for sugar gliders as a potential owner, what are some key questions to ask about them?

I can think of things like current diet and tameness and perhaps health but it is there anything else I could include?

I'd also pay attention to how many questions they ask you. They should be quizzing your knowledge. Shows they are reputable breeder that only want good homes. I rang a guy who I didn't realise was a breeder. He quizzed me loads, we were on the phone ages, n he then said he was impressed and he actually had two he was happy to sell me. That spoke volumes for me, we'd already discussed diets etc when he was quizzing me, so my advice would be to ask the questions you have but then wait to see how much they want to know about you, your knowledge, your intentions etc!

There are the standard questions regarding diet, whether they are tame, and healthy - but bare in mind, they're not going to tell you they are fed a crap diet, are completely wild and unhealthy!  Ask what they have been fed, ask their age and if possible the OOP date - it just shows they pay attention to their gliders.  Ask how long they've been keeping gliders, how old the parents are.  Just make general chit chat. You need to be able to talk to the breeder so you feel you can go back to them if you have a problem.

Ask for pictures of the parents and the joey/s or if you can go and see them - personally when I used to breed I never let people come to the house due to the animals we keep so the shop came in handy when it came to them picking them up.
