In just under three weeks we will be bringing our Joeys-Gus (after the mouse in Cinderella) and Fiona (after the princess in Shrek)-home.
The cage is set up and we have made a few purchases, such as treats, a tunnel, bonding pouches, hammock, the snuggle safe heat pad,  Etc, but I was wondering if there are items that experienced Sugar Glider owners would tell an inexperienced Sugar Glider owner are essential?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. Smiley

You have the most essential item which is a friend for your joey.  Smiley

For bonding purposes a small pop up tent is a great idea. Decorate your cage with ladders and ropes, a wheel which is essential as suggies love to run in it and exercise aids the absorption of calcium.

A wheel is a must, Marie sells them in her shop (click on her sig pic). They have a lot of energy and no matter how much space you give them they will alwats benefit from a wheel. Plus they're fun to watch Smiley x

Thanks guys. Smiley
These are all great suggestions. We've contemplated the tent, but our flat is quite small so I am not sure it will fit. We'll discuss it again though.
Ropes we do not have yet. So, will have to invest in those.
We already bought eh wheel from Marie. Smiley
Again, thanks. This all has me thinking.

I bought fleece and cut it into 3x1" strips to plait and make my own ropes, then you can have them as long/thick as you want, take a lookat this site:

 http://www.suzsugargliders.com/nosewaccessories.htm

Loadsa stuff you don't need to sew with (I'm crap at sewing) all suggie safe and some great ideas. You'll find the rope I made too. Make sure you use polar fleece though! Mine love the trampoline, always jump onto it, I have it hanging off a rope.

If you can't fit a tent in there, you can glider proof a bathroom or large closet (you can even hang fleece on the walls, if you want) and play with them in there.

I've actually been to that site, but wasn't sure how well those no sew items worked and if they were in fact Sugar Glider safe. Thanks for letting me know. Smiley
Thanks for the suggestion for the bathroom or closet. Smiley
