It's only been just over a month since we brought our joeys, Gus and Fiona, home. We spent the first three weeks or more bonding in the tent and finally decided to let them roam our living room for the first time just this week. We were always conscious of Gus and Fiona's safety, but today we failed as Sugar Glider parents. Gus squeezed under our bathroom door, and even though we thought the toilet lid was down, it was not. Gus past away this morning because of our mistake and I hope others can learn from it. My heart hurts because I feel as though I have failed him.
What mostly concerns me though, now, is his sister Fiona. She is alone and we're not entirely sure what to do for her. We have contacted the breeder and will take the necessary steps to ensure she is a healthy, thriving girl. If anyone has any suggestions to keep her happy until we can find her a new friend, please let us know.
RIP Gus. I am so sorry. We loved you very much, despite your very short stay in our lives.

Oh no  Cry  I'm really sorry for you guys, it's a hard lesson learnt.   Sad

With Fiona, make sure you spend as much time as possible with her and make sure the room is warm.  Without the body warmth of another suggie it can be dangerous this time of year.  It's not too cold at the moment but still make sure the room temperature doesn't drop too low.  Start looking around for a suggie that is around her age ASAP.

Hi Marie,
Thanks. We have one of the Snuggle Safe heat pads and I am warming it up every nine hours or so to ensure she has a warm spot if she needs it. We are carrying her around in the bonding pouch while she is asleep and trying to play with her as much as we can when she is awake. Thankfully her breeder has been very supportive and has given us the information of another breeder who has joeys available. We are to speak with her today. Once that is all arranged our next questions will be about introducing strange Sugies to each other.
Again, thank you for your advice and sentiments.
