Jess, to stop the smell, I went to Dunhelm, they have platic stuff on a big roll with the material, think places sometimes use it as tablecloths etc. Some have material on the back and is then coated in plastic stuff, but I went for the transparent stuff so the could still get enough daylight etc in the cage. You can cut it to size so it's perfect fit for round 3 sides of cage (leaving front open for ventilation/access etc etc. it's covered in food but the walls nehind are still pristine
As Helen says, my girls still don't like being 'held' I can pick them up fine, but then they want to run/jump about etc.
I found my girls wee smelt quite a bit so I use Elimina from Marie's shop and have noticed a difference. Spray it in their food and it stops the smell internally (don't know how, I put it down to magic)
