Jen, does that mean if I used half the weight of rosemary compared to all the other fruit/veg ingredients then it's ration would still be 4.8? It's the same ratio as papaya, just thought i'd try something new. I've heard it's quite strong tasting tho so that's why i'd use less x

So if i put a 1 gram of papaya in or 20 gram of papaya in it would be 4:8, But then how come if you half the portion size you get 2:4?

The ratio of the individual food will always be the same regardless of the amount, but for the ratio to work out properly in a mix, they need to all be the same weight.

If you half the portion you are getting a different percentage of said food in the mix, so the ratio of the entire mix changes.  The ratio of the singular food stays the same.

So there is only a few fruit/veg that would work in a mix because of weight issues if i tryed using rosemary there would be to much of it an to overpowering same with basil, dandelion greens, an u cant use orange because of too much acidity so for new comers the fruit n veg can be very confussing maybe there should be a list of fruit/veg for mixes an fruit/veg used as small treat bits.

to add, papaya has a ratio of 4.8 whether you use 1 gram or ounce or 1000 grams/ounces

so on that note some people say they add half to make it 2:4 so say they get (4:8+2:4= 7:2) but that would'nt work so be pointless doin that

I said earlier that it alters percentages of the mix content, so it does increase the Ca:P ratio of the entire mix.

all depends on how much (as in mass) you use. the more you use of the higher ratio foods the greater the ratio change of the diet.

I appreciate all the recipes as I am about to start making batches of fruit cubes myself, but I do have one question no one seems to have mentioned. How much does adding supplements like glider cal, glider booster and acacia gum to the mix alter the ratios?

Does anyone use Sweet potato in a mush mix? It's hard isn't it, so how do people who feed mush find it?

Yup. I use it a lot. Just cut into chunks and shove into the food processor Smiley I tend to blend my fruits first to keep it wetter and then add the drier veg.

I use sweet potato in almost every batch, it's one of the few veg mine like. That and Butternut Squash they get pretty much every day. I cut it up small, in Tesco you can actually buy bags of peeled and chopped Butternut Squash and Sweet Potato together. I always get that. And same as jen, I blend the fruit first so they go abit liquidy, the veg by themselves don't blend. Some people add water or fruit juice to them, I do sometimes depending on how much veg I use and what fruits I put with them, but only for the purpose of getting it to blend lol x

I put my smoothie maker through hell, I just weigh everything out cut it all into chunks n whack the whole lot in. It sometimes sounds a bit distressed when the chunks are too big so I try n cut the hard stuff a bit smaller
