Good afternoon all! Us staff have been rather busy over the past few weeks creating something which we hope all you guys will utilise: the UK Sugar Glider Registry!

This has been in the pipes a while, but due to the sudden influx of coloured gliders we thought it was important to bring it in now to ensure people know where their gliders have come from and to promote ethical breeding practices.

How to Register Your Glider

1. If you are a breeder, get your breeders registration code by emailing glider.reg@gmail.com
2. Go to http://www.glider-registry.co.uk and fill in the registration form.
3. TA DA, you are finished. We will get back in contact once we have generated your pedigree and lineage info.

If you have any issues please post below or email us!

I think this is a great idea for people looking to buy gliders for the first time, or to check bloodlines etc for breeding.  I read something the other day about pet shops selling gliders (?) so this might help people to make better decisions.

So what's the criteria for a breeder to get on here?
Is there any comeback if you have a bad experience with someone?

What happens if you want to register but your breeder's not?

There's not any criteria for a breeder to get on there. They just need to get in contact, with their details so we can assign them a breeder code. If there are a lot of/any severe issues with a specific breeder, that may be noted on their file.

The "approved breeder" section is another matter altogether, and here we will be assessing the ethical probity of breeders, to determine whether we can approve (and thereby recommend) them. There will be a checklist which such breeders will have to pass, so determination as to who is included within this is in no way arbitrary. If anyone has a bad experience with an approved breeder we will take allegations of this sort very seriously and may revoke their "approved" status, depending upon the severity of the issue.

If you want to register, and your breeder has not that is fine -we have actually already had a number of registrants do so. All you need do is email us at glider.reg(at)gmail.com with your breeders full name, and any other identifying features i.e. geographic location and we shall assign them a randomised breeder code. Although we would always urge you to get in contact with your breeder and persuade them to register, as this will ensure a more accurate pedigree (as they can register your gliders parents, maybe even grandparents) and also a choice in what breeder code they want.

To those waiting to hear back from me regards their registration, I can only apologise, we have had an overwhelmingly positive response to the registry, and an exceedingly high uptake, so I'm working through a backlog of emails and registration forms at the moment! Please be assured I will be in contact shortly Smiley
