I am sure most of you have read previous thread on "housing" section regarding my suggie Zena becoming lost.

I have just found the little sweetheart - she had drowned in a bucket of water outside in the garden.  She has been gone for some time i think.  Poor little thing must have been so frightend, cold water, not being able to swim and being unable to scrabble out of the bucket because of smooth sides.

I was hoping that she may have passed away peacefully in her sleep, but finding her just now, i am torn apart because i know she would've suffered so much and been really scared.

I am about to bury her in the garden, along with her little lump of a joey.

I am glad in a way that i've found her, i can put her body to rest now, but i am racked with guilt, firstly she got out of the house and secondly, what if she was alive for days after she escaped?  I didn't find her, what if she was drowning right under my nose and i didn't even realise?  I should've prevented this.

just seeing her little body all cold and soaked, her eyes were pure white, some sort of membrane covering them, she had a reddy coloured somthing coming out of her nose, her poor little mouth was open with her little toung hanging out, her front paws were screwed up into little fists, her little joey was just a hard lump in her pouch, and she has been gone long enough for riga mortis to have come and gone so she has been dead for over 3 days at the least. just her little cold body all wet - i cant get the picture of her little face out of my head, god, she must have been so scared, so cold and alone, i hate the thought, i just cant stand the thought of her drowning, i just cant get it out of my head.

Damn, should've not drank the bottle of champers last night - i could'be done with that bottle tonight.

The thing is, i do know that this could happen, i know that if any of my babies escape the likely outcome is that they die one way or another if i dont know where they are and cant protect them - i should've been more bloody careful, so stupid of me.

Roxy
I am sooo sorry to hear this
I know you wont feel it at the moment, but you did all you could - you searched the house and none of us considered she would really have gone outside
short of padlocking them all in (which would be no life at all for nosey little loveable creatures) you couldnt do anymore.
she was loved.
hug for you

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

Cannot sleep, just have her little body in my head, everything i pick up sems to feel like her body - the rest of the gang have been hugged silly, they're probably fed up with me constantly kissing them.

I just wish that it happend in a different way for her, just the thought sends my blood to ice, i cant get the image out of my head.

Sorry, probably banging on now.

It's like i'd almost convinced myself that she was ok, and was alive somewhere, or at worst curled up to sleep and hadn;t woken up - the reality of her death is just horrible, really has upset me.
